New Student FAQ’s
What if I’m not flexible?
It’s important to understand that Yoga is not about flexibility. This
misconception keeps many people from coming to a Yoga class. Yoga is about stretching your spine and body in all directions. From the very first class you will learn the concept of “trying the right way” enabling you to receive the benefits of each pose according to your own ability.
Is this a cardiovascular workout and can I lose weight?
Yes! Regardless of your fitness level, hot yoga can be challenging. Muscles are toned and strengthened. All of the body’s systems are brought into balance. With consistent and dedicated practice you will lose pounds and inches.
What are some of the Other benefits?
students have reported these benifits:
Eliminate lower back pain
Lower blood pressure
Reduce stress and anxiety
Calm the mind
Reduce the symptoms of many diseases
What can I expect the class to be like?
Expect a hard work out in a nurturing and motivating environment. This is a yoga series where every posture is repeated twice in 90 minutes. The room is heated allowing the body to relax and stretch further. The heat prevents injuries from
overexertion. It also promotes sweating which aids in flushing toxins from the body. Remember to drink plenty of water during and after the class.
What do I need to bring?
A towel and bottled water (bottled water is available.)
A Yoga mat (if you don’t have one, we rent and sell them.)
Proper workout clothing. Because of the heat, we recommend clothing be as light as possible. Sweatpants and other baggy clothing are not recommended. An empty stomach. We recommend not eating for at least 3 hours before your yoga
